School early dismissals and other weather-related cancellations

After school activities canceled due to impending severe weather

Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Several school districts have taken precautionary measures as they continue to monitor severe weather expected to hit the Midlands on Thursday, February 6th.

ABC Columbia Chief Meteorologist John Farley has been tracking the very latest and says we can expect to see heavy downpours, strong wind gusts,  storms and possible tornadoes that could strike the area hard Thursday afternoon well into the evening.

As of today, the following schools have decided to cancel all after school activities or have early dismissals due to the possibility of unsafe travel conditions during the storm.

Bamberg  School District Two (Early dismissal at 11:15 a.m.)

Ben Lippen School Dismissing at 2pm, after school activities cancelled

Bereavement Support Group Lexington Medical Center 7pm group cancelled. Will meet at next Thursday at 7pm

Calhoun County Public School District (Middle schools – Close at Noon)

Calhoun County Public School District (High school – Close at 12:30 p.m.)

Carraway Park Closed

City of Columbia– After school programs cancelled

City of Columbia Parks and Recreation Events cancelled

Clarendon County School District 2 (Early dismissals for all schools; click here for complete list)

Clear Dot Charter School (Early dismissal at 1 p.m.)

Lexington -Richland Five (Elementary and intermediate schools will release at 11:15 a.m.,  Academy for Success will release at 12:10 p.m. Center for Advanced Technical Studies and Spring Hill High School will release at 12:00 p.m. Irmo Middle, Chapin Middle and Dutch Fork Middle will release at 12:15 p.m. Chapin High, Dutch Fork High and Irmo High will release at 12:25 p.m. )

Orangeburg-Calhoun Technical College Classes cancelled at 12:30

Richland District One (Early dismissal at 11 a.m.)

Richland District Two (Middle schools – Dismiss at 12:30 p.m.)

Richland District Two (Elementary schools – Dismiss at 1:15 p.m.)

Richland District Two (High schools – Dismiss at 2 p.m.)

Riverbanks Zoo and Garden Closing at noon

Scott’s Branch Middle/High School (Early dismissal at 12:30 p.m.)

South Carolina St. University (Classes canceled at 2pm)

St. Paul Elementary School (Early dismissal at 12:15 p.m.)

State Museum Closing at 2pm

Summerton Early Childhood Center (Early dismissal at 12:15 p.m.)

Sumter Co. Govt. Will close at 3:30

Sumter School District (Elementary schools will dismiss at 1 PM.Middle schools will dismiss at 1:45 PM. High schools will dismiss at 2:30 PM.)
