Benedict College names first woman as campus minister
Burgess will be the first female campus minister in the 150 year history of the college
Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)– Benedict College has named its first female campus minister.
Tuesday the college announced Reverend Doctor Lillie A. Burgess to the position.
Burgess is the first woman to serve as campus minister in the school’s 150 year history.
Benedict College President and CEO, Dr. Roslyn Clark Artis released a brief statement welcoming Burgess to the Tiger family saying,
“Dr. Burgess is no stranger to Benedict College or the South Carolina faith community,” adding “She is a dedicated spiritual leader who has a heart for teaching from educating scholars at Benedict Tigers to impacting lives in Tanzania; she represents the BEST of BC!”
