Confirmation hearings for U.S. Supreme Court justice nominee Amy Coney Barrett begin Monday

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Supreme Court confirmation hearings began Monday for Judge Amy Coney Barrett. President Donald Trump nominated Barrett to replace the late Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Republicans say she is well-qualified and any opposition is purely political, while democrats argue that the nomination is too close to the election and that if confirmed, Barrett will rule against the Affordable Care Act.

The confirmation hearings will continue Tuesday.
