Former Lexington County Detention Center officer charged in assault for hire scheme
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– A former Lexington County Detention Center officer has been arrested for her alleged role in an assault for hire scheme last year.
22-year-old Ingrid Ortiz-Montero is charged with two counts of misconduct in office and one count of conspiracy. Deputies say Montero was put on leave after bringing contraband into the jail.
In November of 2019, while she was on leave, authorities say she offered to pay $100 dollars to an inmate to assault another inmate. She was taken to the Lexington County Detention Center.
