Two dead after collision involving a motorcycle on SC Hwy 261 Saturday

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– On Saturday, South Carolina Highway Patrol says two people were killed after a vehicle hit a motorcycle in Sumter County. It happened after 11:30 a.m. on South Carolina Highway 261 and Cle-Nic Lane.

According to investigators, the driver of an SUV failed to yield the right of way while trying to make a turn, and fatally hit two people on the motorcycle. Troopers say neither victim was wearing a helmet, while the SUV driver was wearing a seat belt.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office and Highway Patrol are investigating.
