Michigan man arrested in Lexington County, facing drug and gun charges

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department says they arrested a man from Detroit, on Saturday, and charged him with trafficking meth, trafficking heroin and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Authorities say they were looking for a man wanted on a bench warrant when they went into his house on Sandhurst Road and also found 35-year-old Derek Deonta Brown sitting in the living room with a crystal-like substance and drug paraphernalia near him.

Officials say they obtained a search warrant and found a gun under the couch Brown was sitting on as well as about 13 grams of heroin and roughly 14 grams of meth.

Deputies say they arrested Brown at the house, but he has since been released after meeting the conditions of his bond.
