Gamecocks land transfer wide receiver from Georgia Tech

ATLANTA, Ga. — As the Gamecocks’ top receiving threat is off to the NFL, some help is on the way for South Carolina’s wide receiver corps.

Today Georgia Tech sophomore wideout Ahmarean Brown announced on his social media that he would be transferring to South Carolina next season.

Brown is 5-feet-10 and 170 pounds from Tampa, Fla.. This past season he recorded 12 catches for 223 yards and a touchdown, which was a step down from his freshman year for the Yellow Jackets where he hauled in 21 catches for 396 yards and seven touchdowns.

The Gamecocks have a severe need at wide receiver, an already-thin position group from 2020. Top receiver Shi Smith announced earlier this month that he would be forgoing his senior season and entering the NFL Draft.
