SC DEW: Increase in initial unemployment insurance claims last week
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reported an increase in initial unemployment insurance claims during the latest claim period.
SC DEW reports 4,551 claims were filed between December 20-26. This is an increase of 968 from the previous week. Of last weeks claims, 675 come from Richland County.
The department says 77,563 claimants were paid during this period with an average weekly benefit of $227.42.
Since March 15, SC DEW says a total of $4,770,580,992.78 has been paid out to South Carolinians.
