DHEC: 3,492 new confirmed cases of COVID-19, 15 new deaths in SC

According to DHEC more than 5 thousand people in South Carolina have lost their lives to the virus

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control released the state’s latest coronavirus numbers as of Sunday.

DHEC reports 3,492 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 and 15 additional deaths in the Palmetto State. This brings the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 299,685 with 5,056 total deaths.

DHEC says they received 10,481 test results from Sunday, which yielded a percent positive rate of 33.3%.

Interim Public Health Director Dr. Brannon Traxler says that 43,227 Pfizer coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered in South Carolina so far.
