SCSO: Mother charged after giving birth to baby testing positive for drugs

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says a woman was charged after she gave birth to a baby who tested positive for several drugs. Officials say 37-year-old Amanda Herz was arrested on January 28 and charged with unlawful neglect of a child.

On January 14, Deputies say Herz gave birth to a male who tested positive for opiates, methadone and cocaine.
