SCSO: Nursing home employee accused of attempting to engage in sexual conduct with a resident
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office says an employee at a nursing home was arrested after he was accused of attempting to engage in a sexual act with a resident. Deputies say 36-year-old Towodi Shequoyah, who is an employee at a nursing home on the 1700 block of Pinewood Road, was arrested Saturday morning and now faces a criminal sexual conduct third degree charge.
According to authorities, another employee reportedly say Shequoyah in the 73-year-old female victims room with his pants down and his genitals exposed. The employee then reportedly left the room and contacted law enforcement.
Authorities say the victim was taken to a local hospital for an evaluation.
Officials say Shequoyah was taken to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center, and his bond was denied at a hearing on Sunday.
The investigation is ongoing.
