Organizers at the Statehouse honor abuse survivors with the “She Walks” event on International Women’s Day

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Monday marks International Women’s Day! It celebrates the social, economic and political achievements of women around the world. The theme for this year’s campaign is “Choose to Challenge,” encouraging everyone to call out gender bias and inequality.

At the Statehouse Monday morning, people gathered for the “She Walks” event. Organizers say the event is meant to celebrate all women who have survived abuse, sickness and trauma. Participants joined together to hear music and listen to testimonies.
