RCSD: Teen charged with shooting death of woman last month

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a 15-year-old has been arrested and charged with the murder of a 19-year-old woman last month. Deputies say the 15-year-old, whose name is being withheld due to his age, turned himself in to deputies Monday morning.

On February 4, deputies say they were called to the 200 block of Charleswood Drive by the Columbia Fire Department, in reference to a vehicle collision. On the scene, deputies saw the driver, 19-year-old Raeneshia Nixon, had been shot in the upper body. Authorities say she was taken to the hospital where she died.

Deputies say a 16-year-old who was in the passenger seat next to her was previously charged with obstruction for lying to investigators.

According to deputies, the 15-year-old will be taken to the juvenile wing of the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
