Richland County Coroner identifies body found Wednesday as man previously reported missing

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has released the name of an individual whose body was discovered on Ridgewood Avenue Wednesday. The coroner identified the man as 71-year-old Johnny L. Thompson, of Blythewood.

Authorities say Thompson had been reported missing on March 3 after being last seen at a retirement home on the 800 block of Duke Avenue.

The Richland County Coroner’s Office is working with the Columbia Police Department to investigate the incident.
