OCSO: 17-year-old charged with the murder of another teen

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office says a 17-year-old boy is facing a murder charge for a fatal shooting near Santee last year.

“This has been a lengthy and non-stop investigation to get a resolution in this case,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said. “We have made an arrest, and we are continuing the investigation to find out who else may be involved.”

Authorities say the shooting incident on October 5, 2020 left a 14-year-old boy dead. According to officials, witnesses on Tee Vee Road say they heard gunshots from a nearby wooded area, and multiple witnesses identified the 17-year-old as the shooter.

Deputies say more arrests related to this incident may be coming.
