Columbia Municipal Court introducing “Spring Forward Amnesty Program” this May

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– On Monday, the Columbia Municipal Court announced that they will implement their new “Spring Forward Amnesty Program” on every Friday this May. The City of Columbia says this program will allow citizens with outstanding bench warrants or fines to settle their cases without being arrested. Officials say those who appear voluntarily at one of the amnesty locations will have the opportunity to warrants vacated and fines either reduced or converted into community service. This program will begin May 7.

Authorities say this program does not apply to those charged with driving under the influence, first offense or domestic violence, third degree.

City officials say Amnesty Days will take place on the following days and the following courts from 9 a.m.-5:30 p.m.:

  • May 7 – City of Columbia Municipal Court; 811 Washington Street, Columbia SC 29201

  • May 14:  Busby Street Community Center; 1735 Busby Street, Columbia SC 29203

  • May 21:  Earlewood Park; 1111 Recreation Drive, Columbia, SC 29201

  • May 28:  Transitions Homeless Center; 2025 Main Street, Columbia SC 29201
