No injuries, one student in custody after shots are fired at a Minnesota middle school

CNN– A student is in custody after firing several shots inside a Minnesota middle school Monday morning. According to police, officers responded to a report of shots fired just before 9 a.m. No injuries were reported, and school officials say all students are safe.

The school district’s superintendent says the student fired a gun into the ceiling of a hallway outside of the bathroom multiple times. She says several other students witnessed the incident.

Officers are focused on investigating why the student brought a gun to school and if the student shot the gun on purpose.
