Horry County Police Dept. have taken Terry Brady, the suspect wanted in an active shooting situation on Highway 544 near Conway, into custody following an active shooting situation.

Horry County Police are still asking that if you are near Fox Hollow Road and Miles Standish Court to get inside a building and stay there.

Officers said they are investigating the active shooting incident in that area.

Horry County Fire Rescue is working on a fully-involved structure fire in continuation of the active shooting incident earlier Thursday.

HCFR spokesperson Tony Casey said that the fire is under control.

The community is advised that they may see smoke in the area.

During a press conference, police confirmed that the original call was made for a domestic incident. When police arrived on scene, they said shots were heard within the home. They believe the shots were made by the suspect. The suspect then allegedly fled the scene. Police said they aren’t aware if the suspect fled on foot or by vehicle.

Coastal Carolina University said any residents of Castlewood and Dale Acres should stay inside until further notice.

A Code Red alert was sent to subscribers in this immediate area, police say. People near this area may have received a text message or phone call alert in relation to this incident.

CCU safety and Conway Police are helping with the search efforts.

Horry County School spokesperson Lisa Bourcier said they are aware of the incident and are making adjustments to bus schedules as needed.

Bourcier said “There is no direct threat to any of our campuses, and our students are safe, although district transportation could be hampered. I understand the school administration from the neighboring schools has been in contact with parents in the affected areas.”

Daycare lockdowns have since been lifted.
