Gilbert tops Strom Thurmond, 8-2 in game one of 3A lower state championship

The Gilbert Indians opened scoring three runs in the first and tacked on eight more to beat Strom Thurmond, 8-2 in the first of the best-of-three lower state championship series Monday night.

Game two is Wednesday night at Strom Thurmond.
