Derion Kendrick transfers to Georgia

ATHENS, Ga. — One of the top members of the Tigers secondary will be lining up against Clemson to open up the 2021 season.

According to multiple outlets, former Tiger cornerback Derion Kendrick is transferring to the University of Georgia to suit up for the Bulldogs in 2021.

Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney dismissed Kendrick from the team before spring practice started due to multiple off the field incidents.

Kendrick was a first-team All-ACC selection after the 2020 season after he recorded 20 tackles, six pass breakups, an interception, and a fumble recovery for a touchdown.

in his career at Clemson, Kendrick saw action in 37 games across three seasons. He finished his time as a Tiger with 57 tackles and three interceptions.

He originally came to Clemson as a wide receiver in 2018, but transitioned to cornerback as an emergency fill-in and stuck there in 2019.

Kendrick and the Bulldogs will square off with Clemson on Sept. 4 in Charlotte at 7:30 p.m. on ABC to kick off the 2021 season.
