SC Department of Corrections bringing back some in-person visits this month

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Some state prisons will reopen for in-person visits this month. The Department of Corrections says visitation will resume June 19 for vaccinated inmates at minimum security facilities across the state. The hour long visits can take place between Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m-4:30 p.m.

Officials say they will provide information about scheduling these visits closer to June 19.

Visitors must be at least 18-years-old and test negative within three days of the visit or provide a vaccination card. Any visitors exhibiting symptoms of COVID-19 will not be permitted to enter. The full parameters for visitation can be found here.

The agency reports a little more than half of its inmates are vaccinated against COVID-19.
