Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–The controversial practice of conversion therapy is now banned in the city of Columbia.

Tuesday afternoon the Columbia City Council voted four to three to pass the ordinance which prohibits licensed therapists from practicing conversion therapy on people under the age of 18.
The practice is an attempt to change someone’s sexual orientation.
