DHEC joins Prisma Health and the CDC recommending pregnant women get vaccinated against COVID-19
COLUMBIA, SC WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Health and Environmental Control and Prisma Health are joining the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in their recommendation that pregnant women get vaccinated against COVID-19.
The new guidance is a firm recommendation for pregnant woman to get vaccinated. The change is based on new data about the safety of the vaccines.
The CDC says there are safety concerns for pregnant woman who do not get vaccinated. They are at increased risk of severe illness from COVID-19 and adverse pregnancy outcomes, such as pre-term birth.
