LCSD: One charged, one still wanted for weekend shooting off Platt Springs Road
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Lexington County deputies say one man is charged and another is still wanted for a weekend shooting off Platt Springs Road. Deputies say 27-year-old Bobby Murphy III is charged with attempted murder, kidnapping and possession of a weapon during a violent crime. Deputies are still searching for 32-year-old Burton Chavis, who is also wanted on the same charges.
“Based on witness statements and other information detectives have confirmed, Chavis and Murphy were armed with a gun when they forced a man out of a home early Tuesday morning.” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “They then tried to force him into a car before shooting him in the lower body.”
Investigators say the incident occurred on September 14, and the shot that struck the victim came from Chavis.
“Both suspects left the home in a car and deputies were called to the scene a short time later,” Koon said.
