SCHP: Two dead after collision on I-26 in Orangeburg County
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Highway Patrol says two people died in a collision in Orangeburg County on Sunday. Troopers say it happened after 12:30 p.m. on I-26 West, near mile marker 142.
According to investigators, the driver of a 2004 Honda Accord hit a 2016 GMC Yukon from behind, then ran off the road and hit the median cable. Authorities say a 2021 GMC Yukon was traveling east on I-26 and was hit by debris.
According to troopers, two passengers in the Accord died, while the driver was taken to the hospital. Officers say the other drivers and passengers were not injured.
This incident remains under investigation.
