Gamecock wide receiver retiring from football

A member of the Gamecock football team is hanging it up.

Randrecous Davis announced this week on instagram that after multiple injuries, he’s retiring from the game.

“For all who was wondering what ever happen to “Dreak”. I’m still here and doing well but I’ve decided to walk away from football due to my extensive number of injuries,” Davis said on social media. “Durning my career here at U of South Carolina I’ve endured 8 surgeries yet remaining here. I never complained about anything just took it to the chin and always kept it (P)ushing.”

Davis played in 19 games over his career, with three total starts, but dealt with the injury bug for most of his career.

He injured his hamstring in his freshman year in 2016, and missed time in his career due to a stress fracture in his leg. He also had groin injuries while at USC.

“Thanks to my teammates and @coachbeamer they made my process a little easier I thought about doing the draft an all that still cause u know I’m me and it’s just the drive in me to keep going but I think it’s time for me to see wats in store for me elsewhere,” he said. “I want to be able to play wit my kids and grandchildren wen I’m old so support me and my decision.”
