Local Living: SC State Fair accepting scholarship applications, multiple career fair opportunities in the Midlands
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina State Fair is now accepting applications for its ‘Ride of your Life’ scholarship. 50 of the $6,000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors across the state. The scholarship funds must be used at a South Carolina university, college or institution. Students must retain a 3.0 GPA and complete the application online at by March 15.
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The City of Columbia’s Public Works is holding open interviews this week in hope to fill multiple positions it has available. This Wednesday, February 16 from 9-11 a.m., interviews will be held to fill openings for animal service and street division, as well as forest and beautification. Applicants should bring their driver’s license and vaccination card to 2910 Colonial Drive. City officials say these open interviews will be offered every Wednesday from 9-11 a.m.
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Recent graduates, certified teachers, media specialists and counselors are invited to Orangeburg for a career fair.
The Orangeburg County School District will have interviews Saturday, March 5, starting at 9 a.m. until noon at their new library on Russell Street. Those interviews will be conducted on the spot, and top candidates may even walk away with an employment contract in hand for the 2022-2023 school year.
“We’re fortunate to offer both in person and virtual options this year, and are hoping to have a good turnout.,” Ernest Holiday, Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources, commented. “This is a great opportunity to ask questions and meet current members and leaders of the OCSD team. We know there are many people looking for something more than just a job, and they can find meaningful work, a supportive culture and a career path here at OCSD.”
