U.S. Energy Secretary Granholm, Congressman Clyburn visit SC State’s nuclear energy department
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– South Carolina State University was in for a treat today with some special guests. U.S. Secretary of Energy Jennifer Granholm joined Congressman Jim Clyburn to tour the nation’s only HBCU with a nuclear engineering program. The duo also announced a new Department of Energy funding for Historically Black Colleges and Universities to help train a diverse and highly skilled generation of engineers and scientists.
Secretary Granholm tells us these funds will help these students become the next leaders or engineering.
Secretary Granholm also traveled to North Charleston to visit Clemson University’s Wind Test Facility, noted as the world’s most advanced win-turbine testing facility.
