AG Wilson joins coalition investigating TikTok

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson is joining several other states in an investigation into TikTok and its impact on young Americans. Investigators will specifically look at what the social media app is doing to keep users so engaged and if the app poses mental health risks.

Investigators want to determine whether any of TikTok’s practices may go against state consumer protection laws.

“Our children are precious and vulnerable and we need to ensure that they’re fully protected,” Attorney General Wilson said.

Other states that have announced their participation in the probe include California, Florida, Kentucky and Vermont, among others.
