LCSD: Lexington County man accused of stabbing family member in Gaston
COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– According to the Lexington County Sheriff’s Department, a man is accused of stabbing his relative in Gaston Wednesday night. Deputies say 40-year-old Richard James Lewis, of Lexington County, is charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
“Deputies went to a home on Mimosa Drive shortly before 11 p.m. Wednesday after a woman called 911 to report she’d been stabbed,” Lexington County Sheriff Jay Koon said. “One deputy encountered the victim outside in the yard. She had several cuts on her face, neck and back.”
Authorities say the victim told them the suspect was inside the home, and they detained him shortly after.
“Once the deputies secured the scene, they were able to determine Lewis stabbed the woman with a knife he got from the kitchen after the two of them had an argument,” Koon said. “The woman was seriously injured but the word we’re getting from her medical team is that she’ll be OK.”
Lewis is being held at the Lexington County Detention Center.
