SCDEW reports drop in initial unemployment insurance claims last week

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Department of Employment and Workforce reports a drop in first time unemployment insurance claims filed last week. From February 20-26, SCDEW says 869 initial claims were filed, down from the 1,120 reported the previous week.

Last week, SCDEW says 5,789 claimants were paid an average benefit of $272.82. SCDEW says $6,69,814,019.92 has been paid out to claimants since March 15, 2020.
