SCHP announces arrest made in connection with fatal hit and run in Sumter County

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The South Carolina Highway Patrol says an arrest has been made in connection with a hit and run collision in Sumter County that took the life of one person and injured several others. Troopers say Lucious Terrance Magazine was arrested in connection with the collision which took place on US-15 near Havenwood Drive around 8 p.m. on March 15. He is charged with reckless homicide, leaving the scene with a death and leaving the scene with great bodily injuries.

In the collision, investigators say a 2005 Chevy Tahoe was traveling south on US-15 when they ran into the back of a 1999 four-door Honda which was slowing down. Officials say the driver of the Tahoe fled the scene of the crash on foot. Authorities say the Honda had five occupants, all of whom were taken to the hospital with serious injuries. Troopers say one of the occupants succumbed to their injuries on March 20.

Magazine was taken to the Sumter Lee Correctional Center.
