Peace talks resume between Russia and Ukraine

CNN– Talks to stop the fighting in Ukraine resumed as another attempt to rescue civilians from the port city of Mariupol broke down. Russia now accuses the Ukrainians of launching a cross border helicopter attack on an oil depot. The governor of Russia’s Belgorod region reported the alleged air strike caused multiple fires and injured two people.

A Kremlin spokesman says the incident on Russia’s territory could undermine Friday’s virtual negotiations. Right now, Ukraine is not confirming or denying its involvement in the attack. Meanwhile, Russia claims a humanitarian corridor will open for those still in Mariupol Friday, but officials there say the situation is still dire and nothing has been confirmed. An estimated 100,000 people are still trapped in the city with little food, water or electricity for weeks.
