Consumer News: Rent and gas prices continue rising in Columbia

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Some bad news for drivers tonight, as the cost for filling up increases. GasBuddy says the average price for a gallon of gas in Columbia rose by nearly 12 cents, to $3.72 per gallon, but that’s still 14 cents per gallon lower than a month ago. On the other hand, the national average of gas has risen for this first time in more than a month. Drivers are paying roughly 5 cents per gallon more this week, averaging $4.11.

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– Columbia’s rent report for the month of March shows prices are still increasing here at home, despite a nationwide decrease. According to a report from realtor.com, rent prices in the capital city increased 0.8% in March, totaling 15.2% overall. Year-over-year rent growth in Columbia currently stands at 15.5%, compared to 6.6% during this time last year. Since the start of the pandemic in march 2020, Columbia’s rent is up by 23.1%.
