Former Gamecock Deebo Samuel says he’s received death threats from fans

Former Gamecock Deebo Samuel said on social media recently that he’s received death threats from fans amidst his current feud with the San Francisco 49ers over a new contract.

“All y’all fans is in the DMs sending death threats and racial stuff,” Deebo said. “Like that don’t bother me bro. It don’t.”

Samuel is coming off a breakout season. He caught 77 passes for 1,405 yards and six touchdowns, while rushing for 59 times for 365 yards and eight touchdowns, the most by a wide receiver in NFL history.

Earlier this month, Samuel unfollowed all 49ers social media and removed photos containing pictures of him with 49ers gear.

His reaction comes after a report by ESPN, saying the Niners were interested in trading Samuel before he’s due for a new contract. Samuel was drafted in 2019 by San Francisco.
