RCSD: Blythewood HS student charged with bringing gun to school

COLUMBIA, SC (WOLO)– The Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a Blythewood High School student was arrested after a teacher noticed a gun in their waistband.

On Monday, authorities say the teacher that saw the gun secured it from the student without incident. Deputies say the 15-year-old student is charged with possession of a weapon on school grounds, unlawful carry and possession of a pistol under 18.

According to authorities, no threats were made and the gun was never presented.

The student was booked into the juvenile wing at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention.
