Tips to keep your kids safe as they enjoy the water this summer

CNN– As the warmer weather heats up in the Midlands ahead of the unofficial start of summer this Memorial Day weekend, the City of Columbia is getting ready to open the pools and splash pads. Both Maxcy Gregg Pool and Greenview Pool, along with various spray pools across city parks, will open this Saturday from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and again from 2-6 p.m. on Sunday.

While you’re taking a dip this summer, there’s one major public health issue to keep in mind. Drowning is a leading cause of death in children ages 1-4. Mandy Gaither tells us how to keep kids safe, while cooling off.
