Dispose expired or unused medications during National Prescription Drug Take Back Day

Lexington Medical Center is set to participate in this years National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Oct. 29.

WEST COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— Lexington Medical Center is set to participate in this years National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, Oct. 29 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Event officials are asking individuals to drop off expired or unused prescriptions and over-the-counter medications at a drive-thru site at 222 East Medical Lane in West Columbia.

Items that will be accepted for free include:

  • Pills
  • Liquids in containers
  • Patches
  • Needles WILL NOT be accepted.

There can be dangerous and often tragic effects when drugs get into the wrong hands, says the United States Drug Enforcement Administration. More than 360 tons of medication have been collected from April 2022’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
