CNN— While in-store holiday shopping numbers are not available yet for Black Friday, on-line sales already set a new record ahead of Cyber Monday.

In a good sign for retailers, shoppers spent a record 9.1 billion dollars online on Black Friday, according to Adobe Analytics.

Nearly half, or 48%, of online sales were made over smartphones, which is up 44% over last year.

Economists are closely watching holiday shopping this year, to measure the impact of inflation which leads to higher prices and more frugal spending.
