Firefighters Feeding Families Holiday Food Drive accepting donations
The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) will be hosting its 3rd annual food drive to collect canned goods and non-perishable items for families in need of food this holiday season.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— It’s that time of the year again! The Columbia-Richland Fire Department (CRFD) will be hosting its 3rd annual food drive to collect canned goods and non-perishable items for families in need of food this holiday season.
Donations will be accepted at CRFD’s department headquarters from now until Dec. 16. Last year’s campaign collected enough food for 200 households in the Columbia area.
Examples of non-perishable items that can be dropped off for the drive include:
- Canned meats and tuna
- Canned potatoes, vegetables and fruits
- Pasta and rice products
- Canned pasta
- Canned soups and stews
- Cereals
- Canned and dry beans
- Pasta sauces
- Nuts and dried fruits
Citizens are asked to donate food items not past their expiration date. If you are in need of food assistance, organizers ask that you call the department during regular business hours 8 a.m.- 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at (803) 545-3700. Messages can also be left at that number.
