ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WOLO)— The Orangeburg County School District (OCSD) received an unmodified opinion, the highest level of financial assurance, for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2022, say officials.

Brian Nicholoson, with the accounting firm Mauldin and Jenkins LLC., presented the audit report, which found no significant deficiencies in the district’s financial operations.

In a release, OCSD’s Superintendent, Dr. Shawn Foster says, “As a result of making strategic financial decisions, OCSD was able to not only provide funding for all necessary initiatives but also realize more than $13 million to add to this year’s fund balance (rainy day fund).”

Over the last three years, the school district was able to add a collective $25 million to the fund balance.
