SC Attorney General seeks life without parole in Murdaugh murder trial

South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a new statement regarding the Alex Murdaugh murder trial.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— South Carolina Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a new statement regarding the Alex Murdaugh murder trial.

Murdaugh is accused of murdering his wife and son in June 2021.

In the statement, Wilson says, “After carefully reviewing this case and all the surrounding facts, we have decided to seek life without parole for Alex Murdaugh. Because this is a pending case, we cannot comment further.”

In a previous response, the Attorney General says Murdaugh murdered his family to distract from financial crimes he committed.

Murdaugh is facing over 90 charges for financial crimes and is accused of defrauding his former clients of more than $8 million.
