RCSD: Former Columbia High School employee arrested on sexual battery charges

The Richland County Sheriff's Department announced the arrest of a former school employee on sexual battery charges.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— The Richland County Sheriff’s Department announced the arrest of a former school employee on sexual battery charges.

Deputies say 29 year-old Joshua Curenton was arrested Jan. 19 at his residence after it was reported the former Columbia High School secretary was accused of having inappropriate communication with minors. He was terminated on Dec. 14.

Curenton was charged with Solicitation of a Minor, two counts of Disseminating Obscene Materials to a Minor, two counts of Sexual Battery with a Student and two counts of Contributing to Delinquency of a Minor.

The Sheriff’s Department is asking additional victims to come forward.
