AG Wilson’s statement on SC Supreme Court’s denial of Fetal Heartbeat law petition
SC Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a statement after the State Supreme Court denied his petition to rehear its ruling on the state's Fetal Heartbeat law
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)—SC Attorney General Alan Wilson issued a statement after the State Supreme Court denied his petition to rehear its ruling on the state’s Fetal Heartbeat law:
“As we’ve said previously, we respectfully disagree with the Court’s decision. This issue is now in the legislature’s hands.”
The Fetal Heartbeat law, which would have banned abortion after six weeks, was repealed by the State Supreme Court.
The Court found the law unconstitutional after it was passed by the state legislature in February 2021, and thereafter challenged in court by Planned Parenthood.
