COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— Forest Acres’ Mayor Frank Brunson announced his plans to retire at the end of his term after serving for 28 years. He made the announcement at a city council meeting yesterday night.

Mayor Brunson served on City Council beginning in 1995 and then ran for Mayor, holding the position since 2003.

In an excerpt from “Letter from the Mayor,” the outgoing Mayor says:

“…Forest Acres is so much more than a home to a thriving business community. We are a city that truly feels like a neighborhood and features some of the strongest public schools in the Midlands. Our park portfolio is growing and our home values continue to rise alongside our city’s numerous successes. It is because of all of those wonderful highlights and commitments I’ve made personally that I feel now is the right time to close my chapter as your Mayor. My wife Jo Ann and I grew up here and have raised our family alongside yours. Now we have the immense blessing of our two daughters and their families living here too. Being present and active grandparents is a gift and one that has weighed heavily into my decision to retire.”
