Home builders’ confidence rise as mortgage rates fall

Some good news for home buyers excited by the falling mortgage rates!

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— Some good news for home buyers excited by the falling mortgage rates! More homes could be popping up in your area soon.

That’s because home building confidence has jumped into a historic high— the largest in almost 10 years.

That’s according to a February report from the National Association of Home Builders. The report looked at current sales, buyer traffic, and the outlook for sales of new construction homes over the next six months.

All three metrics rose in February for the second straight month. The rise was the largest monthly increase for builder sentiment since June 2013.

But it’s not all good news, the report says builders are still facing issues with high construction costs and building material supply chain logjams.
