Murdaugh Family Murders Trial Highlights
The state has rested its case in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial after four weeks of evidence.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)— The state has rested its case in the Alex Murdaugh murder trial after four weeks of evidence.
As the defense prepares for its first full day of testimony, we look back at some of the highlights of the state’s case.
For the defense, trying to keep evidence of Alex Murdaugh’s alleged financial crimes and suicide attempt was a failed effort.
As far as evidence of the murders, the state relied upon testimony from crime scene experts and SLED agents.
Perhaps the most incriminating piece of evidence for the defendant was video found by investigators on Paul Murdaugh’s phone.
In the video, taken around 5 minutes before the state claims the murders occurred, witnesses testify to hearing three voices, including the voice of Alex Murdaugh.
The final piece of evidence submitted by the state did not even exist when the trial started.
Three weeks into trial, General Motors provided updated location data for Alex Murdaugh’s Chevy Suburban from the night of the murders.
Defense Attorney Dick Harpootlian and his team will work to paint the defendant in a better light and also poke holes in the theories that the state has offered to the jury.
