SPARTANBURG, S.C. (WOLO)— Spartanburg Regional Medical Center officials accepted an infant surrendered under Daniel’s Law, the Safe Haven for Abandoned Babies Act, on Feb. 20.
Officials say the African American and Caucasian male was born on Feb. 19 and weighed seven pounds at the time of birth.
The Act provides a legal option to surrender infants up to 60 days old who have not been harmed, at selected locations.
The infant has been placed in a licensed foster home after being discharged from the hospital, say officials.
A permanency planning hearing will be held on April 3 at 2 p.m. at the Spartanburg County Family Court located at 180 Magnolia Street in Spartanburg.
