Columbia, S.C. (WOLO)–Vice President Kamala Harris visited Benedict College Monday afternoon to discuss efforts to expand affordable high-speed internet nationwide.

Harris joined a crowd of around 200 people at Benedict College’s David Swinton Campus Center.

Before her arrival, other guest speakers included Congressman Jim Clyburn, Benedict College President Roslyn Clark Artis and Mayor Daniel Rickenmann.

“Every person no matter where they live and no matter how much they earn should have high speed internet. It is a necessity,” says Vice President Harris, who also says around 137,000 homes in South Carolina do not have internet access.
