High speed chase leads to guns, drugs, arrests
Orangeburg Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies in Orangeburg Co. say two people are facing drug and gun charges following a high speed chase.
Investigators say Eric Johnson, 24, and Davon Johnson, 19, are charged with possession with intent to distribute promethazine, distribution of cocaine, distribution of crack, possession with intent to distribute marijuana, two counts of unlawful carrying of a pistol, hit and run and several traffic tickets.
Investigators say around 10:30 Tuesday night, a deputy traveling south on Bamberg Rd. attempted to make a traffic stop on a car with the wrong license plate.
Deputies say the car then sped up to eventually lead the deputy on a chase that reached speeds of more than 100 m.p.h.
According to investigators the nearly 20 mile pursuit ended on Charles Street in Bamberg and the two subjects were ultimately tracked down by a K9 officer.
Deputies say deputies with the Bamberg Co. Sheriff’s Office and Bamberg Police Department assisted in the chase and arrests.
